Santra is built to keep your files on your PC. This page says exactly what the app, this website and the purchase process send, and to whom.
The short version
- Your files never leave your PC.
- No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
- The app goes online only to activate your licence key, to re-check it now and then, and to look for updates if you allow it.
- Dodo Payments handles payments. We never see your card.
The Santra app
Conversions, edits, text recognition and face detection all run on your PC. Santra never uploads your files, their names or their contents, and it sends no usage data. The free trial is counted on your PC alone.
Santra keeps a small log file on your PC to help with problems. It never sends it anywhere; you can send it to us yourself if you'd like help.
Santra goes online for these things only:
- Activating your licence: it sends your licence key and your PC's name to Dodo Payments, which keeps track of the PCs a key is used on. This happens once per PC, and again when you move Santra to another PC.
- Re-checking your licence: when Santra is online anyway, it sends the key to Dodo now and then to check it's still valid, for example that it wasn't refunded.
- Updates, if you allow them: about twice a day, Santra asks GitHub for the list of new versions, and it downloads updates from GitHub. You can turn this off in Settings.
Like any internet request, these show your IP address to Dodo or GitHub. Nothing else is sent.
Buying Santra
Purchases go through Dodo Payments, the reseller (Merchant of Record) for Santra. Dodo collects what it needs to take your payment and handle tax, such as your name, email address, country and payment details, under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, email address, country, what you bought and your licence key, so we can help with your purchase. We never see your full card details.
This website
- santraapp.com has no analytics, no ads and no cookies of its own. Hostinger, which hosts it, keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser and the pages requested) for security and to keep the site running.
- Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play on the video. It then plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced player, under Google's privacy policy.
- “Report a problem” leads to GitHub, where GitHub's privacy policy applies.
Emails you send us
If you write to support@santraapp.com, we use your message only to answer you, and keep it as long as needed for that and for our records of purchases and refunds.
Who else sees your data
No one else. We don't sell or rent personal data, and we don't use it for advertising. The only services involved are Dodo Payments (purchases and licences), GitHub (updates and bug reports), Hostinger (this website and our email) and YouTube (only if you play the video).
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to support@santraapp.com. Records of purchases may have to be kept for tax and accounting. For payment data held by Dodo Payments, you can also contact Dodo directly.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
